17's little gem

 17's little gem

Thought id share with you a quick review and rave about a new mascara I picked up the other day from Boots. Ive walked past this mascara a few times and been tempted but the other day I succomed to its prettyness and bought one. It is17's 'Peep show'  mascara with lengthening fibres for a 'full flirty flutter' and I really like it. Im really impressed with the design of the brush which kind of reminds me of other more expensive brands like Lancomes Hypnose. The brush is nice and dense giving a quite a thick amount of product and with criss cross bristles it really helps to create volume and thickness.

It does contain lengthening fibres which you can definitly see the  effect of with a couple of coats. I got mine in black as thats what I usually tend to go for but I think it comes in black/brown and brown as well. Its not the best mascara ive ever used and I do need a few coats to see the real effects of it but I am still very impressed and think its worthy of a little blog mention! Better still its on offer now in Boots stores for just £4!! In fact all of No 17 mascaras are at the moment so if you fancy a little mid week treat id say go for it and see if you agree with me. Im not sure how long the offer is on for or even if it will apply in all stores but definitly be on the look out ladies.
Ta ta for now

Exfoliating

Exfoliation

Exfoliation is a good step within anyones skincare regime to really give your skin a brightening boost to help clarify your complexion and aid any other products that you use in your skincare regime to be even more beneficial.
Exfoliation has 3 main benefits to the skin
  1. It helps to encourage cell turnover, as you skin naturally renews itself you can encourage this process by exfoliation
  2. Encourages circulation by boosting the blood flow towards your face to give you a nice 'rosey glow'
  3. It removes dead skin cells revealing fresh bright skin which is smooth to touch
Its important to find the right exfoliator for you and there are so many different ones on the market both high end and pharmacy brands it can be quite confusing!! One good piece of advice from skincare and beauty guru with her own mega successful brand, Liz Earle gives some good advice in one of her books. She believes that when it comes to exfoliating you should choose a formulation that uses spherical (round) beads such as jojoba beads that gently 'buff' rather than angular particals like salt, pumice or crushed shells which give a much harsher scrub which should only be used on occasion when skin really needs it or on the body. ( Her book 'Skin Secret's is brilliant and super detailed about how skin works and various ways to improve your skin naturally)

Here are some exfoliators that I reccomend and have tried baring in mind that my skin is not really sensitive and is oily/combination

Liz Earle Gentle Face exfoliator

70ml pumpThis is a gorgeous product because of all the natural 'goodies' that give it a gorgeous smell, you instantly smell the eucalyptus which is really fresh and uplifting. It contains cocoa butter which is a great natural
skin smoother and jojoba beads whoch act together to gently 'buff' the skin without feeling too 'scratchy'. A good product for those who need to exfliate a couple of times a week.
This retail at £13.50 from Liz Earle Naturally active skincare.

Benefits Refined Finish facial polish

With seaweed extracts and micro beads this product is a brilliant exfoliator and can be used maximum twice a week. You can also use this product as a mask which makes it a good purchase as its multi purpose to giv your face a nice deep clean and get rid of excess oil. You can go and see the difference right away at your local Benefit counter, they can demonstrate on the back of your hand and you will notice how much brighter your skin looks with one application. It smells fresh like cucumbers too!

It retails at £17.50 from Benefit Cosmetics which you can find in most department stores and selcted Boots stores and online.

    St Ives apricot facial scrub

This is a really popular facial scrub that you can get from most pharmacies and is a good price. You can also get this in a cute minature holiday size which is great if you just want to try it from Superdrug. I think this is a nice scrub but for me Its quite strong so i can only use this maximum one a week or when my skin really needs it. It contians apricot extracts and crushed walnut shell and smells lovely.

For someone who wants a really strong effective exfoliator Boots do a number 7 Micro-dermabrasion polish which is really quite strong so I would not advise you use it weekley or too often and you must always use an spf cream after you use it.

This retails for £11.00 but make sure you go and have chat with the people at your local boots no7 counter how to use this product properly as I think its quite a strong exfoliator and dont reccomend it to those with sensitive skin.

The Holy Grail of water cleansers?

The Holy Grail of  water cleansers??

Bioderma Sensibio H2O
Todays blog is going to be about skincare, just because I love skincare! When I stop and think about how much money I have invested into this stuff it is quite ridiculous, however there are some staples that I think are amazing products and I wanted to share them with you. Todays blog is about in my opinion, the holy grail of water cleansers, Bioderma. I discovered this stuff on youtube through various beauty channels and tried real herd to get it in the UK but failed,so I was super excited when I found some in a little pharmacy whilst out on a trip in Romania so i bought it and I have continued to love it to this day.
Bioderma is a French company and in my opinion the French are some of the best when it comes to skincare! Just look at Avene, La roche posay etc amd you'll see why.
Biorderma is a micelle solution so it contins little particles which help to micro emulsify any impurities on the skin without irratating  the skins natural PH balance. This is so gentle to use it is perfect for sensitive skin and therefore has become a real staple product for make up artists who continually use it to take off make up again and again without irratating skin. It is also fantastic at taking off eye make up even waterproof eye make up so you dont need to bother with any eye make up remover.
I use this stuff pretty much everyday to take off my make up and I do so by just applying it to cotton wool and sweeping over my complexion. I do generally at night also double cleanse with my normal cleansing routine just to make sure my skin is real clean but on the whole this is the perfect cleanser for just removing make up.
The only really annoying thing about Bioderma if you live in the UK is that its flippin hard to get hold of! I do believe you can order online from various sites but thus far ive been getting mine from pharmacies whilst on trip out to Hungary and Romania. The price is difficult for me to say as all I know is that for a 500ml bottle I paid 66,00 lei, which according to my Hungarian boyfrend is about £12/£13. For more information though check out Biodermas website . Happy cleansing!http://www.bioderma.com/en/nc/the-products/what-s-new/product/action/155.html

My Top 3 Mascaras

First of all I just want to say that I think it is a real common misconception and a real annoyance that cosmetics companies promote thier mascaras on a 'one size fits all' philosophy. Whether it be a premium brand or a drugstore brand they often claim to have amazing results when actually I think it depends on what kind on lashes you already have as to what results you will get. Some mascaras work better on people who already have full voluminous lashes but wont really work on those like me who have short straight lashes.

That said here are my top three mascaras
  • #1 Theyre real! by Benefit cosmetics
This is my fave mascara!! It works brilliantly on my lashes and have had so many comments from people saying how long and full they look. The brush to me makes all the difference because its made from silicone and has a special spikey top which can be used to literally push up lashes adding an extra length and separation. The formula is extra black and really long wearing, though not quite waterproof it will not smudge or flake all day. Ive tried lots of mascaras both drugstore and premium and this is by far my favourite. I can imagine if you already have long luscious lashes this would make them look amazing!
It retails at £18.50 well worth it if your looking for a mascara that really works!

  • #2 Lash Glamour Extreme Lengthening mascara  by Bobbi Brown
I was given this as part of a gift set at Christmas and I am mega impressed! I got it from a package from QVC along with the long lasing gel eye liner and 'black pearl' long lasting eye shadow, both of which are lovely products. More that anything this again is a lengthening mascara which separates the lashes. It also contains a formula which helps to curl and condition the lashes. My only gripe is that its not waterproof so if you have any tears it will run (trust me ive been emotional wearing this!)
It retails from Bobbi Brwons website for £18.00.

  • #3 YSL Faux Cils Luxurious Mascara
This is a real luxary product and when you first apply the mascara you will notice how much product you get on the brush. It has a real dense effect on lashes, perfect for an intense look with a smokey eye. Its not waterproof but its long lasting and does not clump ot flake. Its a bit ridiculously priced at £23.00 but as I said this is a luxary mascara and the gold packaging gives it away. Aside from its expensive looking packaging and its YSL name tag the product is also very good proving a firm favourite worldwide. You do need to close the mascara properly after each use and even wioe the brush regularly with a wet wipe to keep it from drying out as its a nightmare if it dries.

So there you have it my top 3 mascaras

Dead Sea Bath Salts

Ever been to Israel and bathed in the dead sea??? Well now you dont even have to step foot on a plane to do it, you just dive into your own bath!
Ive been absolutly lovin these bath salts I picked up from Boots a while ago made by Yarden, J.Malki Products an authentic Israeli dead sea salt company. They are around £7.00 from boots and really help to relax your muscles if youve had a tough day and the minerals that have been used since biblical times have so many health and beauty benefits. They have no frangrance but if you prefer a little fragrance and luxary in your bath they also do some with frakincense oil infused in as well.
Lovely relaxing product!

Chanels Vitalumiere Aqua foundation

So for my very first post ive decided to add a review of a new foundation I picked up at the weekend. It is'Vitalumiere Aqua' by Chanel. This is my first purchase of any foundation by Chanel and I have to say im impressed.
I am the type of girl that usually loves a good medium to full coverage foundation that is matt, as the idea of 'dewy' insatntly in my mind means oily and greese and I hate to see that on my skin.
However I have recently been swayed by the cosmetics worlds push on natural glowy and luminous barely there make up and decided to brave it using new textures and formulas that perfect your own natural skin.
This is a gorgeous foundation that has just the right amount of dewniness for me without having to add any powder on top. It gives a good coverage without it looking heavy and the colour matching is pretty good. To apply I use a good quality stippling foundation brush to reallly blend the product into my skin. Its not the longest lasting foundation, however it does not slip off the skin within an hour or so as most light makeup formulas do for me, it lasts a good working day. I would say that I have combination skin so I cant really comment on how this would look on dry skin or oily skin  but I have heard that the  the original Vitalumiere is better suited to dryer more mature skin types. As for its price its expensive coming in at £31, which is a lot for a foundation but the service that I recieved from my local Chanel counter was brilliant. The lady I originally went to see to enquire straight away insited I have  a sample before buying and was not pushy in the slightest. When it came to acatually buying it the girl that served me was lovely and again not at all pushy and was happy to show me any other products I was curious about from Chanel. So overall I am vey happy with my latest beauty purchase and shall keep you posted if I get to try anymore form Chanel!

Hello there! so im not entirely sure how this is going to work as im not technology savvi in the slightest but id thought id give writing my own blog a little go!
